Corey Boat Racer!

The boys and I woke up early to meet our friends Jack and Camille to go to a boat race. We discovered there is a whole community dedicated to boat racing, and they are big fans! (Even were drinking beers in honor of the Coors Light finals by 10 a.m.!) We started out in an area that had coloring (boats, of course). Brody and Corey both enjoyed the coloring. We must have been early. Heats started at 8, and we were there by 9. The real racing didn't start until 10:30 or so ...
Corey got to "ride" in one of the boats. He pretty much sunk down out of view. The actual driver of the boat (captain?) was a 19-year old girl, and she helped show off the boat to the kids. I think Corey had to sit up a considerable amount to be seen here, but Kyleigh, the driver, said it was a very small space, so he was lucky!

When Corey and Jack get together, inevitably, dancing ensues. They begged me to take a video, and I'll try to post it, because the picture just does not do it justice. Also, they were "posing" in these pictures, and neither Camille nor I could manage to take a "normal" picture. Although, to them, this is "normal."

Brody was with us, too, but Camille must have taken the good Brody photos, because I couldn't find any. He loved the boats, though!

Next up for the week... Rob's parents arrive tomorrow, his sister "Crazy" Kristin on Tuesday ... Corey's Finley Farms' Feast on Wednesday afternoon, hockey practice that night, turkey, of course, on Thursday. And who knows? Corey's talked about bowling, shopping (which, to him, means playing at the playground at the mall), ice skating, golf, you name it. They are going to be EXHAUSTED when they return next week!!!

Still Corey's Birthday?

Corey's birthday keeps going and going. Today he received several presents from Great Grandma and Aunt Debbie, a KU football shirt from the Urbans (who would have thought we'd be proud to have him wear it?) and 10 "box tops" from Nana. He collects box tops for school, and he was VERY excited about it.

But I know I can't post anything without having PICTURES, so I'm obliging. Nana and Papa took the boys on a train ride to Wickenburg when Rob and I were in Las Vegas, so there's a picture of the family in their bubble-like seats. See the exciting desert behind them. Now Dad did apologize, because he said that they were SO busy, he hardly took any pictures that weekend. So guess what "SO busy" means? It means over THREE days, he took 45 pictures. I guess that is a "weak" weekend for him in picture-taking, but it would have been a huge spike in picture-taking for us!

Based on background images, I imagine this is Nana and Corey at the hockey game.

As Rob said earlier, I did feel like I was coming down with something yesterday. I had the aches and pains of something coming on. I started taking zinc and had 11 hours of sleep last night, and ... it helped a lot! I'm feeling great now!

Brody's really trying to start talking. Yesterday I was pointing at pictures, asking him who was in which picture. He said "Ya Ya" (that's Corey), "Ma Ma," "Daddy," and "Bo Bo" (that is, apparently, Brody himself.) Who knew that after all that hard work picking long names like Corrigan and Broderick, they'd be reduced to "Ya Ya" and "Bo Bo?" (Though I do say they are two monkeys, so maybe the name fits....)

Corey's Birthday, Recap

Corey certainly had a very happy birthday! He brought cupcakes to school to share with his friends and got all happy faces today.

Not surprisingly, we immediately proceeded to play hockey in the backyard after school.

Dinner was at Johnny Rockets at the new shopping mall and Corey had a pretzel for dessert. Both boys loved sharing our onion rings (but only without the onions)! Corey also opened his presents and was thrilled about an "I Spy" game for his Leap Pad and Jayhawk book from Nana and Papa, an "I Spy" 3D game from Grammy and Grandpa, a book from Kristin and John about being a hockey player when he grows up (that Corey probably will be able to read by himself in no time) and the Hockey Guys set from Melinda and Gary. Kristin's "Hockey Guys" have been returned to Kazoo Toys in exchange for "Baseball Guys" ... long story, don't ask.

When we got home Carrie put Brody to bed (and promptly went to bed herself in an effort to fight off an impending virus) and Corey and I played "Hockey Guys." The Minnesota Gophers beat the Yale Bulldogs in a shootout!

Another great day, another great birthday for a great kid!

P.S. In case you haven't heard, Brody "refused" to have his picture taken for picture day at daycare (which probably means he violently shook his head non-stop). But tonight he was saying, "Cheese" when I tried to take his picture. Go figure.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COREY!

Welcome to the new and improved Sinclair family blog. Thanks again to Maggie for getting "Crazy for Corey" set up last year. Now that his treatment is done, though, we're moving on to a more family oriented format. Here is Corey this morning with his new hockey goals/sticks from Carrie and I (the first of many pictures today I'm sure)!
