Cleaning Up Phone: Day 1

My goal is to post at least once a day until I get these recent (or at least pretty recent) photos online. According to Carrie, Corey's MRI seemed to go pretty well this morning. He's been home recovering since lunch (at the ever-popular post-MRI spot: Dunkin' Donuts)! Here are the boys watching "Horton Hears a Who." It's just the boys tonight because Carrie is in Dallas for a couple of days for work.

HopeWalk 2009

Thanks to everyone who donated money for Hope Kids! They raised a lot of money - I think they said more than $120,000 across Phoenix, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City. They're starting a new chapter soon in Chicago.

Corey was up and ready to go right after 6, but Brody needed a little persuading so early. Yesterday was a big day - Brody had soccer pictures (did not go well) and a soccer game (did not go well), then I dropped him off at hockey, where Corey and Rob were already at Mini Mites practice. I went to a Kappa alumni brunch and came home just as Corey and Rob were heading out to Mites practice. Then we had Delaney and her family over last night, so it was a late night for the kids (8:30 is late for them!)

The 5k walk started at DC Ranch, a very nice market/park area in Scottsdale. Rob dragged the wagon which had Brody inside all the time and Corey part of the time. When we got to the end, there were goodies from Krispy Kreme, Fry's and some other places. They got to bounce in a bounce house and we saw some folks from Banner Desert we knew.

We really appreciate everyone's support of Hope Kids. Probably 90% of the games and movies we've been to since Corey's diagnosis have been funded from Hope Kids. I believe it made a huge difference - Corey got to experience so much more as a result, and sometimes forget all the other stuff he had to go through.

Speaking of Corey, he has an MRI on Sept. 30, so keep him in your thoughts. It's a three-hour deal, so he has to be under anesthesia. And of course, we hope his results are good news!

Not a Typical "Crazy Day"

OK, so we've had some crazy days, but this one is hard to top ... so far, any way! Carrie took both boys to school (in my car), then came home to get her car. (She gave Nancy our car seat, but more on that in a minute.) I had an 11 a.m. job interview, and then met Nancy at Brody's school to pick him up. I would have been late otherwise. Brody and I went home for lunch and a nap (him, not me). Then we went and got Corey at school, before coming home for 90 minutes (resting, dinner, getting ready, etc.). I dropped Corey and his hockey gear at Zach's house, then Brody and I went to soccer practice. Brody seems to really like soccer, but LOVES "water breaks!" (Bobo: "See Daddy, I'm hot and sweaty.") Afterward, Brody and I went to watch the end of Corey's hockey jamboree/parents meeting. When we finally got out of there it was In-n-Out for dinner, and both boys in bed by 8:35. Maybe Carrie will even return home from work some time tonight.

Grammy and Grandpa's visit

Grammy and Grandpa left yesterday after a wonderful visit. We spent Friday at San Tan Village (where Brody got a new backpack and spaceship), and Dad and I took Corey to the Vikings game Friday night. His purple #4 Favre T-shirt was quite a hit among the Cardinals and Packers fans, as well as some Vikings fans! Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning were spent enjoying the water slide (several times for Corey) and lazy river (Brody liked that and the waterfalls) at Squaw Peak resort. Otherwise we spent time hanging out, swimming, eating (including a Smores Pizza!) and drinking ... and even cut down a dead palm tree. It was busy/hot but fun weekend!
