Interesting Day

We were kind of worried about how Corey would do today during school and his holiday program because he was pretty amped up before school. As it turns out, he had all happy faces (Yippee!) but really didn't participate during the Kindergarten Holiday Musical Program. He was on stage, in his "Sunday best" and kind of singing, but not really getting in to the spirit of the show. Here he is smiling before the program (and yawning instead of singing during the show).

He had a great time afterward during the party in his classroom (he made us a GREAT calendar using handprints and footprints to make scenes for each month) and we had fun at San Tan Mall after we picked up Corey. Apparently Corey isn't destined to be a performer.

By the way, here is a great picture of the snow at Brody's school ... which prompted him to say "Bye bye 'no" ... and we know "'no" is "snow" because he says "no no no no no no" when he means "no" ... you know?!? Yes, Corey did end up throwing that snowball at Daddy!

P.S. Here is the family gathered on the couch, watching "Backyardigans" and eating ... Corn Chex! :-)

Ho ... ho ... ho!

OK, the "official" Santa photo wasn't as bad as I originally thought. If you click on it, you then can "right click" on the larger image and "Save Image As" to your computer.

Merry Christmas!

More Holiday Fun

Last weekend it was the holiday boat parade in Tempe, this weekend we stayed closer to home and saw Santa at San Tan Village in Gilbert. Brody was crying, Corey was shy so this photo probably is as good as we should expect.

Actually, they had quite a bit going on at the mall yesterday. There were carolers singing, which Brody seemed to like (he would wave "Bye" every time we walked away), Carrie and Corey made an ornament and we had hot chocolate and cookies.

Earlier in the day, Corey and Carrie made a gingerbread house ... so it was a very festive weekend!

Belated Weekend Update

OK, first thing's first, if you haven't seen the Sinclair family elves, click here. Also, be sure you check out Carrie's blog book (posted below). It was many hours of work but definitely worth it!

Last week we tried taking a Christmas photo of the boys, here is the 10th and final attempt to give you some idea how it went. Suffice it to say, we didn't use any of these photos!

Friday night Carrie and I went out for dinner and got some Christmas shopping done.

Saturday was a busy day! Corey and I went to another birthday party at the bowling alley while Carrie and Brody napped. After that we spent the afternoon at the "Seussical the Musical" production in Tempe. Both boys loved it and Brody was even clapping when the numbers were done.

We spent Saturday night at Tempe Town Lake for the annual Christmas Boat Lights Parade. Despite winter temperatures in the 40s, Brody loved that as well. He was waving to all the boats and would say "boat." He loves Christmas lights! Corey also got to play on a pile of snow and throw snowballs at his daddy. Ironically, Brody and Carrie were getting dinner so the poor kid STILL hasn't seen any snow!

Afterward, Brody and I watched the fireworks, and he of course loved them! (He pointed and would say "boom" ... unless maybe it was "boat" again, it's hard to tell the difference!)

Sunday, Carrie and Corey went out for lunch with one of her friends from work and her son. Then we all went to the Honeywell Christmas on Ice program. The highlight of the show, of course, was getting the presents at the end and going home (especially the going home part).

That's it for now! Enjoy the photos!

Crazy For Corey: the complete set

I have FINALLY finished the "Crazy for Corey" photo/memory books. Yes, books. There are 150 of blog entries and photos from the last year or so. We haven't ordered the books yet in hard copy, but they are available to review online. (Make sure you have a good connection and some time!!!)

You can even order a copy for yourself (but it will set you back a pretty penny.) There's no need to log in. Just click "View Photo Book."

Pictures from this weekend to come later this week... we had a busy weekend, and it included a birthday party, Seussical the Musical, a boat parade and the Honeywell Family on Ice event. Busy, busy, as usual!

So Far Behind!

We haven't posted in a very long time. For us, anyway. And the harassing by family and friends has been non-existent, which leads me to believe that everyone else is busy as well.

Rob's parents and sister Kristin were here for a week around Thanksgiving. We bowled (Brody cried between his turns, and cried if Rob tried to bowl without him), we sat around a fire in the backyard, we drove around to see lights, we ate turkey (there were 24 pounds so we're still eating turkey), we saw Corey in his school program and we were all very busy!!! And thanks to Grammy and Grandpa and Kristin, our master bathroom FINALLY got painted and we got our Christmas lights up before our neighbors embarrassed us.

Last weekend, Corey went to his friend's birthday party and we ended up staying past dinner, enjoying some adult conversation while all the boys entertained themselves. Sunday, I took Corey to see Enchanted. Corey was not. Not enchanted. Halfway through, he said he was bored and wanted to leave. Near the end, he was screaming in fear. All in all, not such a kid's movie after all! After that, we went shoe shopping and Corey got new Spiderman shoes and we got Brody new Elmo shoes. Brody just loves Elmo. ("Melmo!")

Corey Boat Racer!

The boys and I woke up early to meet our friends Jack and Camille to go to a boat race. We discovered there is a whole community dedicated to boat racing, and they are big fans! (Even were drinking beers in honor of the Coors Light finals by 10 a.m.!) We started out in an area that had coloring (boats, of course). Brody and Corey both enjoyed the coloring. We must have been early. Heats started at 8, and we were there by 9. The real racing didn't start until 10:30 or so ...
Corey got to "ride" in one of the boats. He pretty much sunk down out of view. The actual driver of the boat (captain?) was a 19-year old girl, and she helped show off the boat to the kids. I think Corey had to sit up a considerable amount to be seen here, but Kyleigh, the driver, said it was a very small space, so he was lucky!

When Corey and Jack get together, inevitably, dancing ensues. They begged me to take a video, and I'll try to post it, because the picture just does not do it justice. Also, they were "posing" in these pictures, and neither Camille nor I could manage to take a "normal" picture. Although, to them, this is "normal."

Brody was with us, too, but Camille must have taken the good Brody photos, because I couldn't find any. He loved the boats, though!

Next up for the week... Rob's parents arrive tomorrow, his sister "Crazy" Kristin on Tuesday ... Corey's Finley Farms' Feast on Wednesday afternoon, hockey practice that night, turkey, of course, on Thursday. And who knows? Corey's talked about bowling, shopping (which, to him, means playing at the playground at the mall), ice skating, golf, you name it. They are going to be EXHAUSTED when they return next week!!!

Still Corey's Birthday?

Corey's birthday keeps going and going. Today he received several presents from Great Grandma and Aunt Debbie, a KU football shirt from the Urbans (who would have thought we'd be proud to have him wear it?) and 10 "box tops" from Nana. He collects box tops for school, and he was VERY excited about it.

But I know I can't post anything without having PICTURES, so I'm obliging. Nana and Papa took the boys on a train ride to Wickenburg when Rob and I were in Las Vegas, so there's a picture of the family in their bubble-like seats. See the exciting desert behind them. Now Dad did apologize, because he said that they were SO busy, he hardly took any pictures that weekend. So guess what "SO busy" means? It means over THREE days, he took 45 pictures. I guess that is a "weak" weekend for him in picture-taking, but it would have been a huge spike in picture-taking for us!

Based on background images, I imagine this is Nana and Corey at the hockey game.

As Rob said earlier, I did feel like I was coming down with something yesterday. I had the aches and pains of something coming on. I started taking zinc and had 11 hours of sleep last night, and ... it helped a lot! I'm feeling great now!

Brody's really trying to start talking. Yesterday I was pointing at pictures, asking him who was in which picture. He said "Ya Ya" (that's Corey), "Ma Ma," "Daddy," and "Bo Bo" (that is, apparently, Brody himself.) Who knew that after all that hard work picking long names like Corrigan and Broderick, they'd be reduced to "Ya Ya" and "Bo Bo?" (Though I do say they are two monkeys, so maybe the name fits....)

Corey's Birthday, Recap

Corey certainly had a very happy birthday! He brought cupcakes to school to share with his friends and got all happy faces today.

Not surprisingly, we immediately proceeded to play hockey in the backyard after school.

Dinner was at Johnny Rockets at the new shopping mall and Corey had a pretzel for dessert. Both boys loved sharing our onion rings (but only without the onions)! Corey also opened his presents and was thrilled about an "I Spy" game for his Leap Pad and Jayhawk book from Nana and Papa, an "I Spy" 3D game from Grammy and Grandpa, a book from Kristin and John about being a hockey player when he grows up (that Corey probably will be able to read by himself in no time) and the Hockey Guys set from Melinda and Gary. Kristin's "Hockey Guys" have been returned to Kazoo Toys in exchange for "Baseball Guys" ... long story, don't ask.

When we got home Carrie put Brody to bed (and promptly went to bed herself in an effort to fight off an impending virus) and Corey and I played "Hockey Guys." The Minnesota Gophers beat the Yale Bulldogs in a shootout!

Another great day, another great birthday for a great kid!

P.S. In case you haven't heard, Brody "refused" to have his picture taken for picture day at daycare (which probably means he violently shook his head non-stop). But tonight he was saying, "Cheese" when I tried to take his picture. Go figure.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COREY!

Welcome to the new and improved Sinclair family blog. Thanks again to Maggie for getting "Crazy for Corey" set up last year. Now that his treatment is done, though, we're moving on to a more family oriented format. Here is Corey this morning with his new hockey goals/sticks from Carrie and I (the first of many pictures today I'm sure)!
