Great Weekend of Hockey

After getting home at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Corey had a hockey tournament this weekend in Gilbert starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. Corey and the Capitals lost their first game, 3-1, to the team that eventually lost the championship game in OT. Corey saved 14 of 17 shots and TWO penalty shots! He told me last night this game was his favorite of the tourney. Corey actually didn't play as well in the second game Saturday, making only 7 saves on 11 shots, but the Capitals won, 5-4.

On Sunday, the Flyers needed a goalie, so Corey played for them, and it was one of his better games. He only allowed one goal (and it was short-handed after a too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty), saving 7 of 8 shots. In his second game, the Capitals rolled to a 6-3 victory to win their second game of the weekend and just their fourth win of the year. In two days, Corey was 3-1, allowed an average of 2.75 goals a game and saved 35 of 46 shots (.761 save percentage).
